U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Omar Randall, deputy commander of Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces South, gives a speech to the people of New Orleans during Lundi Gras at Woldenberg Park, Feb. 12, 2024. Randall spoke about the importance of the contributions the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club has given to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation. The Monday immediately before Mardi Gras Day – also called Lundi Gras, “Fat Monday” – holds its own ever-evolving traditions and celebrations; prior to 1987, Monday was typically a day of rest; now, Lundi Gras is another day of celebrating prior to Fat Tuesday.
