The U.S. Air Force's first Air Mobility Element poses for a photo during Exercise Bamboo Eagle 24-1 at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, Feb. 4, 2024. In the first-ever iteration of Exercise Bamboo Eagle, Air Mobility Command provided a new Global Air Mobility Support System concept to put to the test: an AME directed by the 515th Air Mobility Operations Wing. The AME was composed of four smaller force packages called Air Mobility Teams, which came together from Air Mobility Squadrons across Yokota Air Base, Japan; Osan Air Base, Japan; Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska; and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. With the addition of a Leadership Force Element that provided overarching command-and-control and liaising with senior leaders on behalf of their teams, the AME integrated dynamic theater requirements and advised on GAMSS capabilities. The AME was employed to generate rapid global mobility effects at a theater-wide scale to maneuver the joint force, as well as movement into and out of the Naval Air Station North Island, California, spoke location.
