The 48th Fighter Wings last hardened field defense remaining from World War II is under project for demolition at RAF Lakenheath, England, Jan. 25, 2024. This “Type 22 Pillbox” was once used as a defensive fighting position to protect the airfield from incoming attacks and is the last remaining example of a Second World War.
