Marines are trained to put on and clear the M50 gas mask in under nine seconds in the case of a CBRN attack. The gas chamber training, which is an annual requirement, consist of Marines being exposed to chlorobenzalmalononitrile tablets, commonly known as CS gas, to familiarize themselves with the M50 gas mask.
