This #FortRileyFriday we continue our look at some of the buildings constructed on post as part of an Army-wide initiative to upgrade facilities after #WorldWarI. This construction program began in 1927 and continued nationwide until about 1940.
Fort Riley received many new permanent buildings as part of this program. In 1928, five apartment buildings built along Carpenter Avenue and Carpenter Place. In 1930 three additional apartment buildings were built for student officers directly southeast of the 1928 apartments. These buildings today (435 & 436 Carpenter Avenue and 437 Carpenter Place) look much like they did when constructed and continue to serve as housing today.
