U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman Second Class Abenicio Chavez, a member of the blood depot section of Sigonella’s Naval Training Readiness Medical Center, visited Djibouti to test the mission readiness of medical personnel stationed in the Horn of Africa on Jan. 11, 2024 at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. Chavez conducted a walkthrough on the blood deglycerization process to help service members and U.S. Embassy technicians effectively extract glycerin from frozen blood samples.
