Joey Swindle (left), hugs John Swindle (right), both brothers of the late Sgt. Jason Swindle, at a memorial ceremony held for Sgt. Swindle at the Warrior’s Walk here Jan. 17. The Warrior’s Walk is lined with Eastern Redbud trees, each one dedicated to a 3rd ID soldier fallen in combat. Today’s dedication marked the 444th tree dedicated in such a manner. The tree to the left was the tree that was dedicated in honor of the ultimate sacrifice made by Sgt. Swindle, who was a native of Cabot, Ark., and a Soldier with Company B, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd ID. Sgt. Swindle was killed in action on Sept., 20, 2012 when he, along with his platoon, was hit by enemy small arms fire while conducting security operations in Panjwai, Afghanistan.
