When it comes to farming, success starts with knowing how to sustainably conserve and utilize water for crops. USAID offered training sessions on water conservation, rainwater harvesting, wastewater recycling, and modernized irrigation techniques to nearly 300 farmers in Sinjar and Batnaya. With these new skills, the farmers will be able to boost their crop productivity and yields, generating income and providing food for the region.
"After attending the training, we can now determine the best periods for seeding wheat, the best methods and times to water the plant, and the different uses of the soil before, during, and after wheat planting," said Shamo Hassan, a local farmer who participated in the training.
USAID's initiative goes beyond aid – it's planting the seeds of a resilient future, heralding a new era of sustainable farming in the face of climate change.
