231211-N-SO660-1021 YOKOSUKA, Japan (Dec. 11, 2023) Aviation Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class Alexis Hemmer, right, from Lincoln, Nebraska, simulates using a Naval Firefighting Thermal Imager to detect the source of a fire, while Air-Traffic Controlman 3rd Class Nathan Cassube, from Andover, Kansas, mans a firefighting hose to fight a simulated fire in the foc’sle during a joint damage control training drill aboard the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), while in-port Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Dec. 11. The drill was designed to enhance coordination between Ronald Reagan’s in-port emergency team and Commander, Navy Region Japan Fire and Emergency Services Yokosuka in the event of a large fire that requires additional assistance.
