An Airman from an Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron pulls arresting tape from a reel within the Central Command area of responsibility, Nov. 22, 2023. The arresting tape is a component of an aircraft arresting system which is designed to provide an added safety measure for military aircraft in scenarios where conventional runways or airfields may not be available, or where the aircraft's landing gear or braking systems are damaged.
