U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, aboard a CH-53E Super Stallion, advance towards the mission site during a tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 6, 2023. The TRAP exercise familiarized Marines of BLT 1/1 with one of several 31st MEU standing missions in preparation for future deployment and crisis response. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force in ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
