Personnel with the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) and the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) work together in preparation of exhuming a casket during a disinterment at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial (MACM) in Manila, Philippines, Nov. 29, 2023. Once a casket has been exhumed, it will be taken to a processing center where Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) personnel will clear the casket, clean the bones and properly seal the remains prior to being taken to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii to begin the identification process.
