A 3D printer used by 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st Marine Logistic Group, manufactures parts for an autonomous surface vessel on U.S. Navy Landing Craft Utility 1665 assigned to Assault Craft Unit 1 during Steel Knight 23.2 at U.S. Coast Guard Base Long Beach, California, Dec. 1, 2023. The Marine Corps Warfighting Lab Experimentation Division tests expeditionary 3D printing during SK 23.2 to shape Force Design for future Marine Corps and joint exercises. SK 23.2 is a three-phase exercise designed to train I Marine Expeditionary Force in the planning, deployment and command and control of a joint force to enhance capabilities of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force.
