U.S. Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit serve the ceremonial birthday cake after a cake-cutting ceremony at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 09, 2023. The cake-cutting ceremony was in celebration of the 248th Marine Corps birthday. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force in ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
