Capt. Kenneth Collins, commanding officer of the U.S. Navy Band, and Senior Chief Musician Christopher Sala, from Wilbraham, Mass., principal trumpet of the U.S. Navy Band, speak with 8th grade band students from Knoxville, Tn., following their visit to Kenmore Middle School in Arlington, Va., to hear the U.S. Navy Band’s performance as part of their field trip to the Washington, D.C., area. The students were able to hear the U.S. Navy Band perform a Halloween-themed concert featuring modern Broadway favorites and familiar classical orchestral transcriptions arranged for wind ensemble designed to evoke seasonal familiarity for the family-friendly event. The U.S. Navy Band performs hundreds of public concerts in the community each year, regionally and nationally, connecting Americans to their Navy, reminding them of the importance of naval service and the active duty Sailors serving on their behalf around the world.
