A U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, approaches a forward arming and refueling point at Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan, as part of the field training exercise portion of Resolute Dragon 23, Oct. 12, 2023. Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 12 and MWSS-171, both with MAG-12, 1st MAW, operated a forward arming and refueling point during RD 23 to hone their distributed operation capabilities in a realistic and expeditionary environment. RD 23 is an annual bilateral exercise in Japan that strengthens the command, control, and multi-domain maneuver capabilities of Marines in III Marine Expeditionary Force and allied Japan Self-Defense Force personnel.
