    A child helps Paepae o He’eia members, a private non-profit organization dedicated to caring for He’eia Fishpond, the invasive plant species pickleweed (Batis maritima) during the first community work day following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for co-stewardship of Nu’upia Fishpond Wildlife Management Area (WMA), Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Oct. 7, 2023. The work day was part of an ongoing effort to preserve the Nu’upia Fishpond WMA, consisting of shorelines/beaches, fishpond, wetlands, and vegetated areas that provide a habitat for endangered native species.
