U.S. Army Spc. Lathan Krush has always been a craftsman and problem-solver. From a young age he was drawn to the art of creating and mending, which led him to odd jobs like plumbing and electrical work. However, despite his versatile skill set, finding a job he truly loved eluded him.
Spc. Lathan Krush eventually found an opportunity within the Army. He recounts, “Then I saw that the Army had an option to do welding and machining, which I’ve never done before.” This revelation ignited a spark within him. The prospect of manipulating metal to bring about transformative modifications resonated deeply. “I fell in love with that whole idea of being able to make modifications with welding, and I knew that is what I wanted to do.”
Now Spc. Lathan Krush is assigned to 555th Engineer Brigade, 864th Engineer Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, where he is able to serve the Army as an Allied Trade Specialist, doing something he truly loves. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Joshua Linfoot).
