Maj. Joseph Payne explains how the Tanker Intelligent Gateway works during a demonstration to Congressional members and staffers during a connectivity Congressional Roadshow at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, September 27, 2023. The TIG provides a joint and coalition communication gateway, creating a more connected battlespace and the ability to add distributed battle management tools from the ground to space. The roadshow, which featured a KC-135, a C-17, and a C-130 aircraft as well as aircrew, aeromedical evacuation and contingency response personnel, focused on educating Congressional members and staffers on the connectivity required to close logistics chains and enable the necessary agility and survivability for the Joint Force.
