A highlight of Sgt. Maj. Joshua Tolbert's service was in Japan, where he’s also one of the first U.S. enlisted service members to receive the Japanese Defense Cooperation Medal. He received the medal while he was the Sgt. Maj. for First Corps (FWD) for his efforts in the establishment of the first bilateral U.S. Army and Japanese Ground Self Defense Force Headquarters.
