During the 1st Shot at Gettysburg commemoration July 1 at the DuPage County Historical Museum, items belonging to Lt. Marcellus Jones were on display for the public to view. The first shot fired at Gettysburg was fired by Lt. Marcellus Jones, 8th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, which was formed in DuPage County in 1861.
