U.S. Soldiers with Charlie Company, 2-104th General Support Aviation Battalion, 28th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade, along with members of Pennsylvania Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, perform dunker training at the YMCA of Centre County at State College, Pennsylvania, Sept 10, 2023. This training includes familiarization and exercises with supplemental breathing apparatuses and how they are utilized during the event of an emergency where 'overwater ditching' is required. In conjunction with the supplemental training aids and cockpit mockup, the team simulated the mechanical violence and chaos that may be experienced in the event of a water landing and subsequent submersion. They practiced and executed the unfastening personal harnesses and use of emergency egress after varying lengths of time while underwater to simulate any delays that may be experienced during a water-egress mishap. This training is essential to the Medevac community, as their level of risk is substantially elevated due to overwater hoist missions. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by 1st Lt. Samuel Kysor)
