JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (Aug. 31, 2023) Cmdr. Corey Barksdale, outgoing commanding officer of the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Columbia (SSN 771), arrives at the change of command ceremony for the Columbia on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Aug. 31, 2023. Cmdr. Bradford Foster relieved Cmdr. Corey Barksdale as commanding officer in a ceremony on the Columbia. Columbia is capable of long-range Tomahawk strike operations, anti-submarine and surface shipping operations, surveillance and intelligence gathering, and special forces insertions.
