PHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 15, 2023) Explosive Ordnance Disposal 3rd Class Marley Von Cannon, from Wilmington, South Carolina, assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, attached to Commander, Task Force (CTF) 70, attaches a safety strap onto a Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle (SUGV) used for ordnance disposal during an equipment test on the flight deck of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 15, 2023. EODMU 5 conducts routine training to improve their effectiveness and interoperability with allied partners in the Pacific region. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, as well as the collective maritime interests of its Allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
