PHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 15, 2023) Chief Explosive Ordnance Disposal Ben Kunze, from Cincinnati, assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, attached to Commander, Task Force (CTF) 70, controls a PackBot 510 used for ordnance disposal during an equipment test on the flight deck of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 15, 2023. EODMU 5 conducts routine training to improve their effectiveness and interoperability with allied partners in the Pacific region. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, as well as the collective maritime interests of its Allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
