U.S. Marines assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit conduct fast rope training from a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter onto the flight deck of the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) in the Mediterranean Sea Nov. 30, 2012. New York and the 24th MEU were part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Readiness Group and were under way in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.
