National Guard officer candidates of Class 74, Palmetto Military Academy, PMA, South Carolina Army National Guard, receive their respective commissions during a ceremony at PMA, McCrady Training Center, Eastover, South Carolina, on Aug. 12, 2023. The commissioning ceremony concluded a 15-month Office Candidate School course consisting of classroom, fitness, and field training. The newly commissioned second lieutenants of Class 74 demonstrated superior skills in leadership, knowledge, and physical fitness. Since its establishment in 1950, PMA has prepared over 2,300 South Carolina Army National Guard Officers to serve as leaders in all branches of the U.S. Army. PMA is part of The Army School System, a proponent of the Maneuver Center of Excellence, MCoE, located at Fort Benning, Georgia. PMA’s Institute of Excellence accreditation is confirmed every 3 years by MCoE, in accordance with rating standards set by the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, and applying regulatory guidance and directives.
