Rick Seif, commander, Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet, crosses the brow of the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Springfield (SSN 761), Aug. 8. Springfield is one of several submarines assigned to Commander, Submarine Squadron (CSS) 15 located at Polaris Point, U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG). NBG is strategically located to support all submarines deployed to U.S. 7th Fleet. The Pacific Submarine Force provides strategic deterrence, anti-submarine warfare; anti-surface warfare; precision land strike; intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and early warning; and special warfare capabilities around the globe.
