The 3rd Battalion, 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain), 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Vermont Army National Guard, renamed their new armory the "Master Sgt. John Thomas Stone Memorial Armory", Camp Ethan Allen Firing Range, July 27, 2023. It's a way for the 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, and the Vermont Army National Guard to honor his memory and recognize his dedication to the unit. Stone died while deployed to Afghanistan in 2006. The armory formerly housed the U.S. Army Mountain Warfare School, which has moved to a new facility. MSG Stone was killed in 2006 while deployed to Afghanistan. The armory was renamed in honor of Stone's years of dedication to the unit before his death. (Photo by Sgt. 1st Class Jason Alvarez)
