Senior Chief Boatswain's Mate Maemarie Lazo directs a Kuwaiti Armed Forces AH-64D Apache helicopter as it lands on the flight deck of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47). Rushmore is participating in Exercise Eager Mace 13, a bilateral exercise cycle focused on increasing the tactical proficiency of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and Kuwait Armed Forces. Rushmore is a part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (15th MEU) and is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts In the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
