Eighteen Task Force Liberty Soldiers had the memorable experience of U.S. Ambassador to Qatar Timmy Davis joining Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Heasley, 28th Infantry Division deputy commanding general - support, in presiding over their re-enlistment and promotion ceremony at the U.S. Embassy in Doha in July. Task Force Liberty leaders and embassy officials have provided several opportunities for task force Soldiers deployed to Qatar to participate in such ceremonies at the embassy. Task Force Liberty is part of Task Force Spartan, a unique, multi-component organization comprised of active Army, U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard units. Through Operation Spartan Shield (OSS), Task Force Spartan maintains a U.S. military posture in Southwest Asia sufficient to strengthen defense relationships and build partner capacity. The headquarters battalion of the 28th Infantry Division is currently serving as the Task Force Spartan headquarters element.
