On June 28, 2023, the Readiness Branch conducted flood fight training for new volunteers at the District’s Service Base to prepare for the next flood. Twenty-eight employees attended the full-day training. The morning consisted of classroom training covering levee and flood fight fundamentals. The afternoon was hands-on training on sandbagging techniques to mitigate sandboils and overtopping, sandbag machine operation, Field Maps (GIS), and freeboard measurements.
