Members of a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) recovery team fill the corner of an excavation area with sandbags during a DPAA recovery mission in Quang Binh Province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, June 21, 2023. Throughout the mission, local Vietnamese workers provided various support to the recovery team, to include passing buckets to the screening station, screening soil, resupplying fuel, and moving tools and equipment around the site. The DPAA recovery team dammed around certain parts of the excavation area with sandbags to mitigate flooding of the site. More than 1,200 Americans remain unaccounted-for in Vietnam.
