Ian Catour, a sergeant first class in the Illinois Army National Guard as well as an artillery repair work lead at Rock Island Arsenal-Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center, sits inside a partially assembled Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) Urban Survivability Kit (HUSK) at RIA-JMTC, explaining the components that will be added next. The fully replaceable armored cab for the military logistics vehicle built at the factory is designed to transport, deploy and evacuate heavy military vehicles as large as the M1A2 Abrams Tank. The HUSK provides greater protection for U.S. Soldiers because it eliminates the need for add-on kits. Rock Island Arsenal - Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center develops, manufactures and delivers readiness solutions through conventional and advanced manufacturing processes for the U.S. Army and Department of Defense systems globally.
