    I Marine Expeditionary Force

Petty Officer 2nd Class Othea C. Williams, a hospital corpsman with Personnel Security Detachment, Regimental Combat Team 1, and native to Ruffin, S.C., keeps a vigilant watch during a stop at a 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment outpost near Saqulawiyah, Iraq. Williams is on his second deployment to Iraq. Navy corpsmen, also known as 'docs' among Marines, are the combat medics for the Marine Corps. They have the skills and medical provisions to stabilize Marines wounded in combat right on the spot, giving them a fighting chance to live before being medically evacuated.
