ALASKAN GULF (May 16, 2023) U.S. Navy sailors prepare to raise the rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB) onboard landing dock ship, USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49), to retrieve reverse osmosis filters from guided missile destroyer, USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000), as the ships sail through the Alaskan Gulf in support of Exercise Northern Edge 2023 (NE23-1). NE23-1 is one in a series of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command exercises designed to sharpen the joint forces’ skills; to practice tactics, techniques and procedures; to improve command, control and communication relationships; and to develop cooperative plans and programs.
