Staff Sgt. Mark Anthony Bendel, Platoon Sergeant and Bass vocalist of the 82nd Airborne Division Chorus salutes during the Three Cemeteries Monument Ceremony. The Three Cemeteries Monument Ceremony honors the 14,000 Americans who fell during the battle for the liberation of Normandy during World War II. The fallen were temporarily interred in three cemeteries in Sainte-Mere-Eglise before being repatriated to the United States or moved to the Normandy American Cemetery.
