South China Sea (April 10, 2023) – U.S. Navy Culinary Specialist First Class Richard Bone, assigned to the amphibious transport dock USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), annotates supplies being onloaded by Marines assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Sailors during a resupply at sea aboard the John P. Murtha, April 10, 2023. The Navy-Marine Corps team, capable of both rapid response and sustained operations globally, is enhanced by its ability to be resupplied at sea, ensuring that it remains America's most persistent and versatile military instrument. The 13th MEU is embarked with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and the amphibious transport dock ships USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and John P. Murtha, 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with Allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
