A U.S. Air Force Airman assigned to the 57th Rescue Squadron, Aviano Air Base, Italy, parachutes down into the Adriatic Sea in a rescue scenario during exercise Astral Knight 2023 off the coast of Split, Croatia, May 22, 2023. During this recovery scenario, the 57th RQS provided combat search and rescue, personnel recovery, and casualty evacuation to a simulated downed pilot with coordination from NATO allies and nation partners, to include Croatia, Albania, and Romania.
