ALBANIA, May 24, 2023 – New Jersey Army National Guard Soldiers (Left) Sgt. DeWayne Odem, (Right) Sgt.Thierry Charles out of the 50th Chemical Company, 42nd Regional Support Group, instruct the Albanian Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Company how to properly dawn and remove Mission Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP), and emphasizes the importance of adhering to the procedures. U.S. Forces conducted the training at the Albanian Armed Force Complex during the DEFENDER 23 multinational training exercise. The goal of Defender Europe 2023 is to foster closer relationships, increase readiness, and enhance interoperability among service members of the New Jersey Army National Guard and the Albanian Army. DEFENDER 23 is a U.S. Army Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF) joint exercise designed to enable combat-ready, multinational forces. DEFENDER 23 demonstrates USAREUR-AF’s ability to aggregate U.S.-based combat power quickly in Eastern Europe, increase lethality of the NATO alliance, build unit readiness in a complex, joint, multinational environment, and leverage host nation capabilities to increase USAREUR-AF’s operational reach.
