Army Reserve Lt. Gen. Jeffrey W. Talley, chief of the Army Reserve and commanding general, U.S. Army Reserve Command, receives an operational overview Nov. 11 in Breezy Point, N.Y., from Sgt. 1st Class Michael Beckum, non-comissioned officer in charge, 410th Quartermaster Detachment, Jacksonville, Fla. The Army Reserve deployed units to areas most affected by Hurricane Sandy. The units have helped hundreds of local residents in Breezy Point, N.Y., by pumping remaining flood water out to sea. The Army Reserve units are deployed to the area under the National Defense Authorization Act 2012 and are in direct support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, state and local officials.
