Iraq Air Force Lt. Gen. Shihab Jahid Ali, the Iraqi Air Force commander, visits McEntire Joint National Guard Base, South Carolina, May 17, 2023. During his visit he received briefings about the South Carolina Air National Guard and a familiarization flight in an F-16 Fighting Falcon. Lt. Gen. Shihab’s flight showcased total force integration through the partnership between the South Carolina Air National Guard and U.S. Air Forces Central. Iraq does not have an Air National Guard or Reserve equivalent and the familiarization flight served as an opportunity to see how these organizations support national defense strategy objectives.
