Capt. Rick Burgess, the first-in-class aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford’s (CVN 78) commanding officer and Rear Adm. Greg Huffman, second from the left, Commander, Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 12, greet Norwegian and U.S. distinguished visitors in the captain’s in port cabin, May 22, 2023. Members of the Kingdom of Norway’s government, military and media embarked on Ford to meet with Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group (GRFCSG) leadership and learn about the capabilities of Ford-class aircraft carriers. Gerald R. Ford is the U.S. Navy’s newest and most advanced aircraft carrier, representing a generational leap in the U.S. Navy’s capacity to project power on a global scale. The GRFCSG is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., allied, and partner interests.
