Sgt. Henry Johnson wears his French Croix de Guerre as the 369th Infantry Regiment, formerly the 15th Infantry (Colored) New York National Guard, arrives back in New York City in 1919 after fighting in France in World War I. Johnson was the first American Soldier to be awarded the French medal. He was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously in 2015.
