Photo illustration created to highlight Renowned Reservist Cpl. Keiarree Ealey, a squad leader with, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, at Marine Corps Support Facility New Orleans, May 5, 2023. The Flora, Mississippi-native joined the Selected Marine Corps Reserve to serve his country and become a part of the Marine Corps culture while also pursuing a college education. Ealey was selected by his command as a Renowned Reservist, a new initiative, highlighting the highest performers across the SMCR.

“As a squad leader I get to lead my team. The Marine Corps has given me the opportunity to train with other Marines and build close relationships with them,” said Ealey. “My favorite thing about the Marine Corps Reserves are the Marines. They’re my family and we get the chance to build our camaraderie.”

Being a part of the SMCR gives Ealey and other Marines the opportunity to be a part of the Marine Corps community while maintaining a civilian career.

Stay tuned to see the Renowned Reservists training as a part of Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) 25 in the upcoming Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) this summer. ITX is a live-fire and maneuver combined arms exercise designed to train battalion and squadron-sized units in tactics, techniques, and procedures. The exercise also acts as a mass mobilization rehearsal for the Reserve units and enhances the total Reserve force readiness to rapidly deploy when called. This provides a sustainable and ready operational Reserve force for employment across the full spectrum of crisis and global engagement. (U.S. Marine Corps photo illustration by Cpl.
