USCGC Eagle crew members receive damage control training

Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Payton Olson, a damage controlman assigned to USCGC Eagle (WIX 327), unpacks a synthetic patching kit used in emergencies for ruptured pipes during a demonstration with Coast Guard Seaman Nickolas Rojas, a crew member assigned to Eagle, May 2, 2023, while underway in the English Channel. Eagle conducted a four-month summer deployment, sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, to teach practical seamanship skills to officer candidates from the U.S. Coast Guard and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Corps, foreign military personnel, and shared best practices with sailing organization Tall Ships America, while cadets and crew facilitated diplomatic engagements with U.S. allies in Northern Europe, the Portuguese archipelagoes of the Azores and Madeira, and Bermuda.
