Paparo, center, commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, speaks to Sailors assigned to the Independence-variant littoral combat ship the USS Mobile (LCS 26) during a question and answer session for the International Maritime Defense Exhibition 2023 (IMDEX 23), May 3. IMDEX 2023 is an international showcase of the latest developments in maritime defense technology the U.S. Navy participates in to promote dialogue, stability, and security throughout the Indo-Pacific. Littoral Combat Ships are fast, optimally-manned, mission tailored surface combatants that operate in near-shore and open-ocean environments, winning against 21st-century coastal threats.
