The 401st Quartermaster Detachment, an Army Reserve unit from Lock Haven, Pa., pumps water into cleared storm drains from inside Long Beach High School, Long Beach, N.Y., Nov. 6. The unit activated and deployed to the effected area under the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 to support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and state authorities. The unit is designed to purify water for troops on the battlefield however, in this case they are pumping water out of areas most effected by Hurricane Sandy.
