RI National Guard employs aerial firefighting capability for the first time during historic brushfire

Aircrews operating two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the 1-126th Aviation Regiment, Rhode Army Island National Guard, provide aerial firefighting support to the large-scale brush fire in Exeter, Rhode Island, April 14, 2023. Using a specialized bucket that holds 660 gallons of water, the aircrews dropped approximately 43 thousand gallons of water. The brush fires scorched 700 acres before being contained.
