Floyd, the Pink Flamingo, an unofficial mascot of the Radio Frequency Transmissions Flight, 263rd Combat Communications Squadron, 145th Airlift Wing based in Charlotte, North Carolina, is displayed during Exercise Southern Strike, in Gulfport, Mississippi, April 17, 2023. Floyd was positioned where the radio frequency transmissions operators deployed 1.2 Arbus Antennas and ultra high frequency satellite finders in an effort to establish secure network access in remote locations. Southern Strike 2023 is a large-scale, joint multinational combat exercise that provides tactical level training for the full spectrum of conflict. It emphasizes air dominance, agile combat employment, precision engagement, close air support, command and control, personnel recovery, aero medical evacuation, and combat medical support.
